Field Technician

PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:
The Field Technician is responsible for the installation, testing, maintenance, repair and removal of telecommunication and associated electronic equipment of Agri-Valley Communications, Inc. cellular and data networks. This position works closely with all technical personnel to ensure customers receive the highest quality of service.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on all wireless infrastructures, electrical equipment, and associated peripheral equipment.
- Performs testing using established processes, diagnostic procedures and test gear.
- Assembles, installs and tests telecommunication equipment and facilities including but not limited to cell site huts, relay and ladder racks, fuse panels, rectifiers and other framework.
- Analyzes network coverage to ensure contiguous communication and network integrity and availability.
- Integrates network hardware and interconnects facilities.
- Supports new site turn up and carrier additions.
- Ability to transport, connect and ensure function of portable generators when needed for power outages at cell site locations throughout service area.
- Maintains detailed and accurate documents relating to but not limited to E911 call testing, monthly site inspection, and site inventory.
- Performs job responsibilities with little supervision and participates in cross-functional projects as scheduled.
- Uses company vehicle and plow to remove snow from cell site locations and other company property.
- Maintains cell site building and grounds upkeep.
- Performs job duties within company health and safety requirements.
- Other duties as requested or required by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of an Associate’s degree preferred and/or equivalent work experience is required.
- Previous experience working in telecommunications field services and basic understanding of radio frequency preferred.
- Flexibility to work nights and weekends with occasional travel when required by workload.
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
- Ability to work independently and/or with a technical team under tight deadlines.
- Required to carry a company-provided cell phone and be available to respond during working hours and non-working hours.
- Meet MDOT requirements for medium duty commercial vehicles.
- Must be able to maintain a valid forklift training certificate.
- Successfully complete pre-employment background screening.

Work Environment:
This position operates according to daily workload and may be outdoors in all weather conditions and all types of terrain or indoors in a professional office environment. Dress should be appropriate for daily workload and must meet safety requirements.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time regular position. Hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with on-call responsibilities and occasional maintenance window work.
