Job Description:


The Billing Specialist is responsible for providing service and support to customers and staff through personal interaction, telephone conversations, online chat and email messages.   The Billing Specialist must maintain current knowledge of Thumb Cellular’s products, services, policies and procedures in order to assist customers in a timely and accurate manner.


Essential Functions:

  1. Process service orders, review, adjust and reprint held bills using the billing system.
  2. Assist with customer port requests.
  3. Troubleshoot issues with service orders, devices and software as well as provide daily customer service to internal and external customers.
  4. Review/research revenue assurance reports as required.
  5. Obtain detailed credit reports on prospective customers to determine risk factors and review Red Flag inquiries.
  6. Maintain knowledge of manual switch interface and other provisioning tools.
  7. Maintain auto pay accounts and archive documents for both ACH and credit cards.
  8. Provide assistance to other departments, including but not limited to customer care, sales, finance/accounting and inventory.
  9. Create and maintain procedure manual for duties.
  10. At all times, follow all CPNI and Red Flag regulations.
  11. Perform job duties within Company health and safety requirements.



  1. High School diploma or GED required.
  2. Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  3. Possess good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  4. Previous customer service and/or accounting experience desired.
  5. Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
  6. Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively with strong attention to detail.


Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Minimal travel may be required.


Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment.


Expected Hours of Work:

Hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with some Saturday hours.
