Job Description:

 

Summary/Objective:

The Field Technician/Installer is responsible for all Agri-Valley Services Internet installations, service calls, and customer equipment maintenance.  This work takes place on site at the customer’s service address.  The position works closely with customers to connect them with their internet needs and resolve service-related issues ensuring high customer satisfaction.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Install and troubleshoot customer connections on our wireless and fiber networks.
  2. Educate the customer on their services and equipment.
  3. Set up wireless routers and other networking appliances.
  4. Perform pre-installation site surveys to determine service availability at a given location.
  5. Gather customer premise equipment from cancelled accounts.
  6. Provide accurate and timely reports as required by manager.
  7. Assist with the cellular and landline networks when needed, working alongside AVS Tech Team and Voice.
  8. Maintaining company truck and reporting counts on supplies and equipment.
  9. Perform job duties within Company health and safety requirements.

 

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or GED required.
  2. Successfully complete and maintain climbing certification.
  3. High-comfort level with heights, climbing ladders and TV towers, navigating roofs as well as confined spaces/crawlspaces.
  4. Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
  5. Experience using power tools.
  6. Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively with little supervision required.
  7. Ability to work in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain or snow.
  8. Possess good troubleshooting and organizational skills.
  9. Meet MDOT requirements for medium duty commercial vehicles.
  10. Successfully complete pre-employment background screening.

 

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Travel Requirements:

This position requires a valid driver’s license for daily travel necessary to perform job duties. Long distance travel to other parts of Michigan may be required.  Possibility of extensive drive times between jobs, working mostly as part of a two-person crew.

 

Work Environment:

This job operates outdoors in all weather conditions.  This job involves climbing ladders and towers and working in confined spaces and crawl spaces.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time regular position.  Hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours may extend past 5 p.m. on occasion with overtime pay.  Some opportunities for Saturday work and overnight work.
